Equine Assisted Therapy
Working with horses provides a unique analogy to one’s way of relating to others and the pressures of daily life. Horses are unable to pretend, and so give immediate, reliable feedback on human behavior. They respond rapidly to pressure and thus allow immediate opportunity to gauge the outcomes of one’s styles of behavior.
The interaction of horses and people brings to dramatic life issues in relationships that might otherwise go unnoticed and unaddressed. The interaction of horse and human allows for the development and practice of new interactive skills that can be transferred to day to day life.
During this interaction with horses, therapists can assist one to identify and modify self-beliefs and how usual methods of dealing with real-life demands are no longer working well.
